Balancing the Supply Chain Triangle
This survey allows you to map the balance in your supply chain triangle and is based on the principles of statistical conjoint analysis. This technique is quite often used to understand the relative importance of different possible value drivers.
We use this technique to analyze and reveal the balance in the supply chain by considering the following as drivers and options:
- Volume High/Low
- Margin High/Low
- Inventory High/Low
The result
All possible combinations are emulated, and participants are asked to rank the different drivers from most desired to least desired.
The odd exception aside, everyone will rank High Volume, High Margin, and Low Inventory first. But what will they choose secondly? And what’s their third option? …
In the end, you will get a graph that combines all answers. Depending on the outcome you can take next steps and use the opportunity to discuss further internal alignment.
Managing a supply chain is a balancing act of service, cost, and cash.
